The Power of Video for Marketing
January 10, 2023
Video continues to be a powerful tool for marketing. In fact, the power of video and how many marketers use it is actually growing. About one third of marketers are already using video and according to our friends over at HubSpot, 21% of marketers plan to use short-form video in their marketing strategy for the first time in 2023. That’s roughly 50% of marketers that know the importance and power of video for marketing.
Making the Complex Simple
There are so many things competing for our time. So when you do get a potential customer’s attention, you need to make sure that what they’re seeing is eye-catching and honestly, not too long. One of the great things about using video for marketing (and one of our specialties here at Digital Brew) is that you can take really complex ideas and simplify it in a short amount of time. You can have visuals that grab your customer and easily get your point across in 60-120 seconds. Remember, these videos are likely to just be conversation starters. So no need to overstuff them with ideas. But you want to get across the basics of who you are and how you can solve a problem they might be having. And the great thing about video for marketing is that you can use the visuals to support your voiceover and explain the flow of a process, or even add other statistics that might not work in flow in the voiceover.
The Power of Video for Marketing for Storytelling
We did a whole blog on the power of storytelling so we won’t dive too deep here. But one of the great things about using video for marketing is that you can take that opportunity to connect with people and humanize your brand. Some companies try to make ads that are real tearjerkers. Now, you don’t have to go that far, but using video lends itself to storytelling and finding a way to relate to your audience. Even if it’s as simple as showing them a problem they’ve experienced, that’s still relating to them. There’s a reason “Has this ever happened to you?” has become a joke.
Substance AND Style
Your video can have all the right information it needs but you still need to get someone to watch it. Like we said earlier, it needs to be eye-catching. That’s where the style comes in. A video for marketing that is basically a bunch of slides with information is boooooring. So you need to spice that up. Depending on your product or brand, the style of video you make can really say a lot about you. Are you warm and appealing or are you cold and uninviting? Even if you have a more technical product or use for your video, it can still grab someone’s attention. You also want to make sure the style of your video also fits with the audience you’re trying to reach. One concern we get sometimes with clients is that they want animation but they don’t want it to look “cartoony.” There’s 100s of different animation styles we can use. The key is finding the best one for you!
Fresh Brewed Video
Video for marketing can be a really important avenue that you might not be fully utilizing or maybe even missing entirely. If you’re still skeptical there’s plenty of data out there (like what we linked above) that shows why short-form video can be so powerful. We’d love the opportunity to chat with you about adding video to your campaign and taking things to the next level. If you even want to chat with us, feel free to reach out to us here.
